ANCIENT JERUSALEM DAY 

Routes, archeology and history.  

  • Introduction Viewpoint from Mt. Scopus or Hass Promenade.  

  • Tour the 3000-year-old Biblical City of David. 

  • Wade through Hezekiah’s Tunnel (1200-foot water tunnel carved in 701 BCE, which saved Jerusalem from the Assyrian siege, famously featured in the Bible.

  • Walk through the newly discovered 2000-year-old Western Wall Tunnel, which goes under the Roman streets of Jerusalem to “Robinson’s Arch” the main overpass into the Second Temple of Herod. 

  • Tour of ancient Second Jewish Temple remains (Davidson Archeological Park.) 

  • Lunch in the Jewish Quarter.  

  • Visit to 2000 year old Roman villas under the modern Jewish Quarter. 

  • Panoramic view from the highest dome in Jerusalem at the Hurva Synagogue.

  • Optional Christian Quarter visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Via Dolorosa.

  • Dinner at the Machaneh Yehuda market, a mecca for foodies and funky lively nightspot.

DESERT DAY

UNESCO world heritage sights of Masada, Ein Gedi, and Dead Sea

  • Hike or cable car up the ancient fortress of Masada to visit the best preserved Roman siege fortifications on the planet and learn of the epic tale that transpired there in the first century CE.  

  • Hike a nature trail and swim in the Ein Gedi desert oasis.  

  • Float in the Dead Sea, the lowest point of the planet earth 1200 feet below sea level.  

  • Overnight in Jerusalem

MODERN DAY JERUSALEM

  • Israel Museum (Shrine of the Book which contains the world famous Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest Biblical manuscripts in the world) and spend time in museum which recently underwent a $100,000,000 renovation. Explore the archeology, art and Judaica wings.  

  • Visit the Knesset and Supreme Court.  

  • Pay respects at Har Herzl military cemetery and Yad Vashem national Holocaust memorial in the afternoon. 

  • Volunteering at the Lone Soldier Center in downtown Jerusalem.

  • Meeting with Lt. Col (res) David Benjamin, former head of the Legal corps of the IDF southern command and internationally acclaimed legal expert on military ethics.

  • Free time in downtown Jerusalem.
